Those looking to get into the cannabis industry will have to grow commercially, distribute and sell recreational marijuana somewhere besides the city of St. Clair.
The St. Clair City Council has amended its code of ordinances to prohibit recreational marijuana establishments within the boundaries of the city.
The council took the action at its regular meeting on Dec. 3. The move comes despite the fact that roughly 51 percent of St. Clair voters supported Proposal 1 on Nov. 6.
Other parts of the new state law, which went into effect Dec. 6, remain intact. The act allows Michigan residents ages 21 and older
