Recreational marijuana not in future plans for West Virginia – The Daily Athenaeum

Recreational marijuana in West Virginia is not happening anytime soon, according to state officials.

“I don’t see us expanding to recreational or legalization in any way, shape or form,” said West Virginia Senate President Mitch Carmichael on Friday at a panel hosted by the West Virginia Press Association.

On Jan. 4, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions released a memorandum removing a policy made under the Obama administration that reduced federal marijuana restrictions in states that moved to approve recreational use of the drug.
