Walmart slayings highlight problem with medical marijuana law, advocate says

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, MI — Two men were shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot after taking to Craigslist to try and sell medical marijuana overages.

But, an advocate for the medical marijuana community said situations like this could have been prevented if lawmakers responded quicker to issues arising from the state’s medical marijuana law. 

Michigan State Police detectives discovered a transaction to sell the marijuana was set up through the website, sending Flint residents Joseph Michael Carson, 31, and Anthony Lee Hammond, 39, to meet up with a pair of brothers from Grand Rapids outside the Shiawassee County business.
